I must have been somewhere around nine
or ten years old when I participated in the Science Discovery programs. The kind of bug that gets stuck in your brain, that is the result of building something and then having a rewarding experience where it actually flies… I think it’s important to get kids to participate in it early because then, in my experience it just never left. What we’re trying to do is test the camera and camera system for the eventual flight during eclipse. There’s not much to be gained in terms of pictures of the sun and moon during the eclipse, but the big difference is perspective. It’s exciting to me that I’m getting to the point in my career or the point in my life where I could start giving back and help inspire the next generation.
